Welcome to the Mind of the Q

Potential Employers:
Choose one of the portals on the left for specific information about me and my services. I specialize in Information Technology, Programming, and Music. If needing web design, I'm able to do layouts though not full coding.

General Site Information:
"Q" is my original online nickname or handle, my real name is David. The origin of the single letter Q came from being a fan of Johnny Quest. Over the years I developed many aliases through gaming and online communities. I would list them but for security purposes I will not.

This site was originally intended for my portfolio, though I found it to be a great place for projects and their applications. Most projects are psychological such as "Arrogance & Ignorance" test which unlike most online tests, there are no right or wrong answers as most questions are debatable. For information on this and other psychology and philosophy projects, seek the "Inner Core" portal.

If the site's background design and concept looks familiar, PearlPhoenix was the one I borrowed the concept from. It is perfect for my needs of a PHP/HTML/Javascript hybrid site. The entire site design is a single image cut into pieces and laid out in such a way that content can be easily blended. Unlike other sites which use stretching of GIF's for borders and such, this concept of a full-scale image layout is much more fluid and flexible with low maintenance. The only down side is the file size, to address this issue for the site, I kept the theme of using grayscale and single color overlay to keep the size down after compression.

Though this site is eye-candy, the main purpose is to show the ability of creating the site using different languages and concepts. I have no application for watermarking and tags of images on the site as I'm not an digital artist, just a designer. That application is used in PearlPhoenix's portfolio site to help keep track of potential stolen images when needed. I will not show the application here in its raw form for security purposes and competition for services I do.

In the first conception of the new site look I wanted jumper pages since this unsightly scrollbar knocked out the blending factor of the site. With a few movements and new cuts of the layout image I can keep it within the designed content location without killing the blending look. When scrolling down, the text at the top is blended into the content frame border coloring by design. This is nothing but an illusion, the same for the bright light in the top right. I designed that to just cover up an unsightly flaw in PhotoShop's bevel effect when blending two different bevels, the same for the bottom of this page as no corners are shown.

This page's main purpose if for testing the layout and optical illusions it creates, keeping the reader interested yet struggling to read the text. If it's not worth reading, it's not worth struggling. Few pages will show the scrollbar
